Online Discussion November 12
Dr. André Resner, Research Professor at Hood Theological Seminary, will lead an online discussion (via Zoom)on November 12, 2020, at 9 a.m. with faculty, students, and other interested parties on his current research which will be part of a forthcoming book entitled What's Right With Preaching Today? The Enduring Influence of Fred B. Craddock (Cascade Books, 2021), edited by Dr. Resner and Mike Graves. The title of the paper to be discussed is "Re-Centering Preaching: A Taxonomy of Gospel." The paper examines the nature of the key theological term "gospel" and the way that a preacher's working understanding of "gospel" functions when he or she reads and interprets biblical texts for preaching. Preachers may think that they are simply traveling a well-worn path from text to sermon on a weekly basis, but the truth is that preachers have powerful pre-theological commitments that guide their every move with the text and the sermon. If you'd like to be a part of this spirited one hour discussion, please contact John Everett at Hood Theological Seminary at jeverett@hoodseminary.edu.
