Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM). The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry degree program is designed for students preparing for ministry in Christian denominations that do not require the Master of Divinity (MDIV) degree for ordination.
Students acquire a basic knowledge of how the discipline of theology functions in relationship to Christian living and ministry. They develop a theology of pastoral works that sees, listens to and engages the full global witness of the Christian faith. They develop a theology of both liturgy and preaching that not only coheres with but also illuminates the Christian tradition to which each adheres. They evaluate and apply theories of leadership and interpersonal dynamics that foster the health and well-being of a local church or some other Christian organization.
The Master of Arts in Christian Ministry (MACM) is conferred by the Board of Trustees, upon the recommendation of the faculty, when the following requirements are met:
1. Satisfactory completion of 60 credits hours of course work designed to be completed in a minimum of two academic years or a maximum of seven years, fulfillment of the required distribution of the curriculum, with a grade point average of at least C+ (2.33)
2. A minimum of one academic year or 20 credit hours of course work completed at Hood
3. Satisfaction of all financial obligations to the Seminary, the return of all properties belonging to the Seminary, and the settlement of all housing obligations to the Seminary
4. Exemplary Christian conduct

Application Requirements
Following are requirements for an application to the Master Programs:
- A completed application form and a non-refundable application fee of $30.
- A bachelor's degree or its equivalent, from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or holding membership in the Association of Universities and College in Canada, or the educational equivalent, with a minimum cumulative grade point average of “C+” (2.33). An applicant with less than the required cumulative grade point average may be admitted on academic probation for the first two semesters of study. A student admitted on academic probation will be limited in the number of credit hours for which they may register and must achieve in the first two semesters of study a cumulative grade point average of “C+” (2.33) to continue in the master degree program. Otherwise, the student will be withdrawn.
- An official transcript(s) submitted directly to the Seminary by every college or university where the applicant studied.
- Two letters of recommendation: one from the applicant’s judicatory official (or, if none, a colleague) and one from a former professor that indicate the applicant’s intellectual competence, personal character, and suitability for ministry. The Seminary will provide official forms that referees are to complete and send directly to the Admissions office.
- A statement of purpose reflecting the applicant's faith journey, religious experience, plans, and the importance to the applicant of a Seminary education.
