Admission Requirements
Master
of Divinity & Master of Theological Studies Programs
- A bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.33
- A Statement of Purpose
- Three Letters of Recommendation
- Official Transcript(s) should be sent to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment
Doctor
of Ministry
- Completion of the Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 in the Master of Divinity degree.
- Three years of ministerial experience beyond the Master of Divinity degree
- Letter of Support from church
- Two Letters of Recommendation
- Official Transcript(s) should be sent to the Office of Admissions and Recruitment
Non
Degree
- A bachelor’s degree or its educational equivalent from a regionally accredited college or university.
- One Letter of Recommendation

Master Programs
- Submit a completed application for admissions with a $30.00 non-refundable application fee. ( Apply Online or Download Application Form)
- Statement of Purpose (two page essay reflecting your faith journey, and how seminary would be beneficial to you).
- Request transcript(s) from all previous baccalaureate and any graduate-level work be sent directly to Hood Theological Seminary Office of Admissions & Recruitment.
- Submit three Letters of Recommendation. Recommenders should include pastors, teacher/employer, and judicatory officer from your denomination. ( Download Recommendation Form)
Doctor of Ministry
- Submit a completed application with a $50.00 non-refundable fee. ( Apply Online or Download Application Form)
- Submit a definitive, introspective paper describing your spiritual and ministerial journey (from the time of your call, through your career and life seasons, until the present).
- Request transcript(s) from all previous baccalaureate and any graduate-level work be sent directly to Hood Theological Seminary Office of Admissions & Recruitment.
- Contact the governing board of your ministry setting and ask the board to send us a letter indicating (a) your present involvement in ministry, (b) a reasonable assurance of your continuity in that setting of ministry for the duration of this program, and (c) their willingness to support you financially and programmatically during your participation in the program.
- Submit two additional Letters of Recommendation. ( Download Recommendation Form)
Non Degree Program
- Submit a completed application. ( Apply Online or Download Application Form)
- One letter of recommendation. ( Download Recommendation Form)
- Official transcript indicating a bachelor's degree or its equivalent, from a college or university accredited by an agency recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or holding membership in the Association of Universities and College in Canada, or the educational equivalent.
- All students who want to transfer credits earned at Hood to another institution must verify prior to registering that the course will be accepted as transfer credit by the other institution.
