Annual Advent Lessons and Carols

The students, staff, and faculty of Hood Theological Seminary will prepare to celebrate the closure of the fall semester and the start of the Advent season, which begins on December 2, 2018. Advent is observed in many Christian churches, and it symbolizes the process and practice of the expectation of preparing and waiting for the celebration of the birth of Jesus. In recognition of the start of the Advent season, the Seminary will sponsor its Annual Advent Lessons and Christmas Carols Service. The service will take place on November 30, 2018, 6:00 p.m. in the Aymer Center for Spiritual Growth and Ministerial Formation on the campus at 1810 Lutheran Synod Drive, Salisbury, NC, 28144. Reverend Carol Hallman, pastor of the First United Church of Christ, Salisbury will be the speaker for the 2018 Annual Advent & Christmas Carols Service. This annual service follows an abridged version of the standard readings and songs which originated at King's College Chapel during a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols at Christmas Eve to foster imaginative worship. The Seminary service will feature congregational carol singing and scripture readings from student representatives, members of the staff and the faculty. The service is free and open to the public.
